New Statistics

3 new statistics are added today (find it in the ‘advanced statistics’ window):

Expectancy – Expectancy tells you what you can expect to make (win or lose) on every trade.

Standard Deviation – Standard Deviation is a statistical measure of volatility. It shows how much variation or dispersion there is from the mean (Expectancy).

Z-Score – Z-Score is used for calculating the ability of a trading system to generate wins and losses in streaks. It enables us to see if the streaks generated are of a random pattern or not.

The above statistics can be analyzed in real time, if choosing to analyze a custom period.

* The new statistics will become available as soon as you update your account.

More statistics are on their way 🙂

Have a great trading week!

Contest Update

Well, it’s already 1 week in, and as you’ve probably noticed, a lot of traders are over leveraging themselves to be ahead while ending up margin called. The key to winning the contest is consistency – don’t try to make the highest return, but try to be consistent with profits.  So how many are profitable by now?

As you can see, only 20% are profitable, while 80% are not. Out of the 80% non profitable traders, 40% were already margin called.

The leaders are currently Pawel with 541.50%, SpyfratFXOpen with 384.99% and imam with 327.69%

There are 3 more weeks to go, so trade carefully and successfully!

Happy trading,

The Myfxbook team.

Contest Starts Today!

A quick reminder to all the traders – the contest starts today so get ready (in less than 1 hour!).  There are over 700 traders participating so this one is going be a bit harder 🙂 If you haven’t connected your account to Myfxbook yet, please do so as that’s the only way to track your progress and rank.

A small update – we’ve added an option to exclude your account from the community outlook statistics (find it in the settings of the account in question):

Also, we’re almost ready to support FXCM trading accounts (Trading Station and Strategy Trader) and currently in need for beta testers 🙂 .  If you want to help us test it, please send us a message and we’ll send you the software along with instructions on how to use it (we need a small group of around 10 beta testers).

One last thing – you might have not noticed it, but our website went down on Thursday for about 3 hours. This was covered here https://www.myfxbook.com/community/general/website-downtime/60299,1 .

So what exactly happened? Both of the hard drives on one of our servers failed which left us hanging in mid-air. This was obviously an unexpected downtime, and we worked hard (and late into the night) to restore everything and get the website back up and running as soon as possible. Unfortunately,  some of the user avatars and images that were attached to posts were lost as we were left with an older backup only (If you did lose the avatar icon, please upload it again).

In order to prevent this from happening again, we’ve already added 2 more servers which will act as backups to create a fail-safe system in which another server will take over if one fails and will also increase the performance of our website.

Good Luck in the contest!

The Myfxbook team.

Unexpected Downtime

Guys,

We’ve been handling unexpected downtime for several hours due to a complete hard-drives failure on one of our servers.

We’re working hard on restoring the website to normal activity as soon as possible (we’re mostly done already).

Thanks.

1 Week Left For Registration!

Only 1 week left for registration to our October trading championship – there are already over 350 registered users, so what are you waiting for? If you haven’t registered yet, please go to https://www.myfxbook.com/contests/trading-championship-october-2010/2/rules

Also, some users have reported they can’t login to the fxopen platform – if you’ve opened an account and can’t login, please open another one. Make sure you’ve opened the account from the provided link above and not from fxopen’s trading platform.

On another note, we’ve been working hard on our infrastructure, which needs to be upgraded to handle our growing user base. In the past week we’ve been gradually applying the required upgrades, so you should notice a major improvement  in the browsing speed.

Regards,

The Myfxbook team.

Community Outlook By Country

We’ve just added a new metric of our community’s outlook – distribution by countries:

The new metric is capable of plotting 10 different symbols (EURUSD, USDCAD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, AUDUSD, EURCHF, USDCHF, EURGBP, EURJPY, GBPJPY) with 4 different options:

  1. Long positions by volume.
  2. Short positions by volume.
  3. Long positions by amount.
  4. Short positions by amount.

This is yet another interesting piece of information which we think would be most interesting to watch after. The chart is self updating every 60 seconds, and based on verified, real accounts only.

Have a great trading week,

The Myfxbook team.
